TEHRAN Deputy Interior Minister for Political Affairs Mostafa Tajzadeh here on Wednesday asked the people and political groups to take the golden and historic opportunity provided after the May 23, 1997 (the day President Mohammad Khatami was elected) to promote the honor and dignity of Islamic Iran.
Addressing a group of students of Teachers Training University, Tajzadeh stressed this should be done peacefully and within the framework of the law.
Being calm and peaceful does not mean being weak, inactive and silent,'' he noted.
He said, Adventurism, encouraging violence and false polarization of society which can make the country's political atmosphere gloomy, violent and insecure, is a poison for reforms.'' Tajzadeh went on to say, A forward movement has started in the country which is based on the fact that status quo is not responsive and some changes, that is to say reforms, should be realized.'' At the same time, the reform does not mean to revenge the past,'' added Tajzadeh.
He said, Questions are now posed that had not been raised during the past 20 years.
The answers to these questions can create a great leap forward and rebirth.'' He added the questions raised by the second generation of the revolution is deeper, more serious and more vast and this generation can accomplish missions which the earlier generation could not.
